Advanced HR - Which Way is the Wind Blowing?
In John Boudreau's latest column in Talent Management Online, he writes that the way in which organizations operate often produces powerful "headwinds and tailwinds" that affect HR and how it operates and is perceived.
When HR execs describe their company as bureaucratic or a low-cost operator, says Boudreau, "the less they reported that HR had necessary skills, used advanced human capital approaches, served an active strategic role and added value." In comparison, "the more HR leaders described their organizations as high involvement and sustainable, the more they reported strong HR skills, advanced HR practices, high HR functional effectiveness and a strong HR strategic role."
