Center for Effective Organizations

Research

Organization Design

The Center has conducted numerous studies that explore, define, and assess new organizational forms and corporate structures for the knowledge economy. We research structures that are needed to implement global strategies, customer-focused organizations, knowledge production and leverage, and team-based and collaborative approaches to organizing, and the use of lateral integrating structures and processes such as cross-functional new product development teams, task forces, and self-forming and planned networks. In addition to looking at the impact of organization design on performance, we look at how it impacts employees.
