Conger is a member of the Academy of Management. He is on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Learning and Education Journal. He has served as Associate Editor of the Leadership Quarterly. He is the recipient of the Business Week award "Best Professor to Teach Leadership to Executives" and the also is the recipient of the Smith Richardson Fellow awarded by the Center for Creative Leadership (2000). He has won numerous teaching awards.
