Working Paper
Organizing Knowledge Work Systems
The organization of knowledge work is increasingly the focus of redesign and reengineering efforts, to respond to pressures for increased competitive demand for speed, quality, and efficiency, and in order to cope with the increased need to integrate complex organizations across a variety of dimensions. This paper examines the design of organizations for knowledge work. It draws on the general literature underpinning organization theory and design, and more applied work on design for knowledge work.
