The Role of Top Management in Large Scale Change: The View From Within
The important role of the executive in large scale change has been much touted in recent literature. This research looks at fundamental organizational transition from the perspective of the organizational participants. It finds that the role of more local business unit management is key as well. It draws conclusions for the role of top management during transition. Top management should focus on organizational architecture, on leading the learning process, on providing very clear strategic direction, and on building a new employment relationship.
