Beth Gunderson is a Senior Affiliate Practitioner with the Center for Effective Organizations at the USC Marshall School of Business, where she instructs and consults in the areas of organization design and change.
Beth specializes in organization design for complex manufacturing and consumer packaged goods enterprises – businesses where engineering, operations, supply chain and commercial teams must work together across multiple sites, product lines and demanding quality and regulatory requirements. Her clients include industry leaders in aerospace and defense, precision industrial controls, industrial equipment, consumer packaged goods, packaging and medical devices, as well as organizations in healthcare, energy and government technology services.
She partners with executive teams to clarify strategy-driven operating models, redesign enterprise and functional structures, define roles and decision rights across matrixed organizations, and build the leadership and HR capability needed to sustain change.
Grounded in an engineering background and decades of experience in R&D and supply chain operations, Beth brings a practitioner’s understanding of how work actually gets done, pairing proven organization design frameworks with a pragmatic, hands-on approach. She has taught organization design to executives, HR leaders and MBA students in the U.S. and internationally.
Before working with the Center, Beth was an organization effectiveness executive at General Mills, where she led organization design and change management practices and built capability across the enterprise. Over 32 years with General Mills (previously Pillsbury/Diageo), she held cross-functional roles in Research and Development, Supply Chain/Operations and Human Resources, giving her a distinctive perspective on organizational change.
Beth received a BS from the University of Wisconsin in Industrial Technology – Package Engineering and an MA in Human Resource Development – Organization Development from the University of St. Thomas.
