Teron is a passionate champion of inclusion, intercultural awareness, and valuing diversity in its many forms. He finds joy in empowering and providing resources to historically underrepresented and underserved populations while also helping allied powerholders understand their position of privilege and how to operate from that space to meaningfully promote systemic justice. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Teron spent many of his formative years attempting to navigate socioeconomic and racial minefields as he sought various education opportunities before pursuing a career in higher education. Teron spent three years practicing counseling and therapy as a part of his undergraduate and graduate clinical social work programs before dedicating 10 years of his professional experience to helping underrepresented students gain admission to and graduation from college. More recently, Teron spent three years leading diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at a staffing agency in Minneapolis before joining Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota as the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. At Blue Cross, Teron works to integrate DEIB strategies across the organization through their racial and health equity strategies while helping guide an inclusive culture that embraces individual differences and ensures Blue Cross’ ability to attract and retain a diverse workforce.
