Shayna Schulz is senior vice president, enterprise transformation, at Blue Shield of California, a $20 billion healthcare plan with more than 4.3 million individual, commercial, and government members statewide.
Schulz and her team are creating a new operating model that will deliver a best-inclass 21st century experience for Blue Shield’s individual, government, and commercial members. Her team is committed to transforming the customer experience and delivering on the company’s promise of a high-quality, exceptional member experience while also driving systemwide savings that can be reinvested in new, innovative healthcare services. Schulz also is responsible for Blue Shield’s operational strategy, including enrollment, billing and payments, claims, product configuration, and provider operations.
Schulz brings nearly two decades of insurance experience, ranging from customer service and corporate communications to business development and sales. Before joining Blue Shield in 2015, Schulz served as vice president of customer service at Allstate, where she led the company’s 2,000-person customer contact center. Before that, she was vice president of communications for AIG.
Schulz started working in the insurance field in Springfield, Massachusetts, at MassMutual Life Insurance.
Schulz attended Boston University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English literature, cum laude, and a bachelor of music in vocal performance. She earned her Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
