Shreya Sarkar-Barney

Dr. Shreya Sarkar-Barney works with organizations to drive people and business outcomes using science and prior-evidence. She has helped firms achieve outcomes such as turning around failing cross-border collaborations and closing revenue gaps. Shreya has championed the use of talent analytics with major technology giants, which has influenced their program design and investment decisions. She has developed organization redesign solutions to address the evolving nature of work, enabling fluid collaboration and problem-solving. A significant portion of Shreya’s time is spent uncovering unbiased and efficacious science-based practices, to help drive extraordinary outcomes.

Through her work, she aims to create hope and optimism for more fulfilled work experiences, and inspire individuals and organizations to push the limits of what’s possible. She has a deep conviction that the use of evidence-based methods creates fair and equitable workplaces. Shreya serves on the board of the HR Strategy Forum, the editorial board of the SIOP Professional Practice Series, and the board of the City of Vacaville, Economic Development Advisory Committee. In 2019, Shreya was awarded the Scientist-Practitioner presidential recognition by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).

Shreya is the author of the book “The role of national culture in transfer of training” based on an empirical study covering 49 countries. She has contributed book chapters in the Oxford Handbook of Organizational Culture and Climate, ASTD Handbook of Training and Development, among others. Her research has been published in the International Journal of Human Computer Interaction, Information Technology & People, Organizational Research Methods, and Personnel Assessment and Decisions. Shreya holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University.
